Inspired by Chris's grandmother, Myrtle Ivy, who lived 98 years with grace, love, and quiet joyfulness, Myrtle Ivy – the cafe was established to celebrate the abundance of spirit that Myrtle evoked, through the sharing of delicious coffee and tasty eats with the local community.

Since opening her doors in December 2014, we have based all we do on celebrating abundance: providing excellent brews, tasty treats, grace, warmth, and integrity. The business embodies Myrtle’s spirit. She nurtured her community with simple pleasures, delicious smells emanated from her kitchen, and her generous spirit was well known and loved by all.

We humbly reflect on the café’s nine and a half years journey with deep gratitude for our community. To our customers, suppliers & staff, the business would not exist without you. Collectively you have made Myrtle Ivy the gem that she is. Thank you!

On June 28th, 2024 Myrtle Ivy signs off full with love and gratitude.

May the spirit animal qualities of the Turtle, “living together in peace & harmony driven by perseverance and determination to achieve steady solid growth and prosperity whilst honouring its own path”, remind and inspire us to navigate life with a gentle, forgiving and wonderous perspective.

Our Community

"The diversity of people we've met has been amazing. They've all contributed to the rich tapestry of our community."

- Michael

"I think what drives that community vibe here is that everything they do is considerate, with the goal of being great for the environment; the community and at the practical level."

"Mike and Chris are absolutely the reason why West Leederville is so fantastic. Once people start working around here, they don't need to leave. There is such a strong sense of community and like-minded people here more than anywhere else I've experienced."

Matt & Simone

"We've been loyal customers for 10 years, watching Myrtle Ivy evolve and change. It's been a joy to see it grow and to get to know all the people who come and go. We cherish the conversations and connections we've made here."

Justin

"I would like to thank them for all their endeavor and what they bring to the place. Without this, it doesn't become as vibrant a community and as an enjoyable place to work in."

Chris

"For them it's not just about the coffee shop. For them it's about the community and it always has been and will continue to be because that's who they are, it's in their DNA."

"Mike and Chris in general are such a warm, calm presence. They're just good for everyone and I think that flows into the coffee shop. They've also been so nice and welcoming to me. Big, big thanks to them."

Brett & Lachie

"Chris and Michael's reflections are organic and people oriented. They have always thought about the legacy of what they do, and that is the culture of Myrtle Ivy. It's not just about the day, but rather about something that continues and has a resonance into the future."

Steve

"We're just so grateful it's here. It's such a great part of our lives. It's truly the one thing we do as a family that is almost non-negotiable. They've made it into such a beautiful place. We're just thankful it's here. We would be so upset if it ever went anywhere."
